Healing Herbs
provides
an alternative source for the 38 English flower essences familiar to
practitioners
and customers throughout the world. Healing Herbs™ flower
essences
are made from the same plant species and with the original methods
employed
by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s. The name "Bach Flower Remedies®"
is
often used as a generic term for these remedies. However, this name has
been trademarked by the Bach Centre and the Nelson Company to designate
their particular brand of the flower remedies of Dr. Bach. Just as
there
are a number of homeopathic companies that prepare, for example, the
Arnica
remedy, so there are different flower essence companies that prepare
the
38 flower essences and emergency combination originally made by Dr.
Bach.
The following descriptions
are taken from the Flower
Essence Repertory, by Patricia Kaminski and Richard Katz, an invaluable
resource for information about not only Healing Herbs, but also the
FES Quintessentials.
NOTE: The Healing Herbs brand is distributed
in the USA by FES, but is not made by FES. Some of the Bach flowers
are, however, made by FES as part of their research list, here.
Healing Herbs have light blue labels; FES have dark purple labels.
Positive qualities:
Tolerance, acceptance of others' differences and imperfections,
seeing the good within each person and situation.
Patterns of
imbalance: Criticalness, judgmental attitudes, intolerance;
perfectionist expectations of others; oversensitivity to one's
social and physical environment.
Centaury
– Centaurium erythaea (pink), also known as Centaurium
umbellatum
Positive qualities:
Serving others from inner strength, with a healthy recognition
of one's own needs;
acting from strength of inner purpose, saying "No" when appropriate.
Patterns of
imbalance: Weak-willed, dominated by others, servile,
acting to please; difficulty saying
"No," neglecting one's own needs.
Positive qualities:
Work as an expression of inner calling; outward life which
expresses one's true goals and values; work experiences motivated
by an inner sense of life purpose.
Patterns of
imbalance: Confusion and indecision about life direction;
trying many activities but chronically
dissatisfied, lack of commitment or focus.
Wild
Rose – Rosa canina (pink or white), also
known as Dog Rose
Positive qualities:
Calmness and stability in any emergency or time of high stress.
Patterns of
imbalance: Panic,
disorientation, loss of consciousness.
This formula may
be used in any kind of emergency, trauma, or in circumstances when
one needs immediate help, before and after moments of difficulty,
for accidents and upsets. It has a calming influence, helping to restore
peace and emotional balance. The Five-Flower Formula benefits both
the person affected, and those who are otherwise involved. It is also
good for plants and animals, with the addition of other single essences
as appropriate.
In the brief descriptions
that follow, the negative feelings are given first, followed
by the positive results that may be achieved by using the remedies.

FRIGHT
ROCK
ROSE: feelings of alarm, horror, dread and being intensely
scared - the courage to face an emergency.
MIMULUS:
fright of specific known things, such as animals, heights,
pain, and for shy, nervous people - bravery.
CHERRY PLUM:
feelings of losing control, of doing dreaded things - calmness
and sanity.
ASPEN: vague,
unknown apprehension and haunting premonitions - trusting
the unknown.
RED CHESTNUT:
worry for others, anticipating misfortune, projecting worry
- trusting to life.
CHICORY:
demand for attention, self-pity, possessiveness, self-love,
feeling hurt and tearful - development of love and care that
gives freely to others.
VERVAIN:
willfulness, stress, over-enthusiasm, fervour and insistence-
quiet and tranquillity.
VINE: tyrannical
behaviour, bullying, demand for obedience, domination - ability
to become a loving leader and teacher, setting all at liberty.
BEECH: intolerance,
fussiness, hyper-criticism - ability to see more good in the
world.
ROCK WATER:
self-denial, rigidity, stricture, puritanism - development
of a broad outlook and understanding.
